Medtronic Case Study - Autolog

Objectives:

  1. Find a cost reduction project for Medtronic assembly plant
  2. Solve quality issues happening at assembly plant

Delivered:

MME found a cost reduction at the plant through new part design and tooling to combine 6 parts into one assemble.  Also lowered in-house scrap rates through delivering one sonic welded assembly to the plant.

Results:

Instead of gluing at the plant, an assembly was provided instead.  This new assembly is continously keeping Medtronic's internal assembly scrap rates down and at the lowest point ever on the legacy product. This also increased MME's capacity to provide assemblies through quality measures coordinated with Medtronic engineering in Brooklyn Park, MN.
